Luke Haynes:  Quilt Architecture Unveiling Event

Come discover ¡Sombra!, a stunning temporary installation by artist Luke Haynes, featuring Quilt Architecture—a captivating series of fabric sculptures crafted from over 200 quilts made from recycled thrift store clothing and bedding. Installed near the main amenities of the park and within the shade of its trees, these eye-catching pieces invite visitors to explore, interact, and engage with the artwork in a space where art and nature meet.

¡Sombra! highlights the essential role of shade in our community while celebrating sustainability and creativity. Each quilt sculpture is not only a beautiful piece of art, but also a reflection of how we can repurpose fabrics and textiles to create something new, functional, and inspiring. The installation encourages a deeper appreciation for the value of upcycled materials and the importance of finding creative solutions to environmental challenges.

This artwork is a visual celebration of both the need for shade in our hot desert environment and the endless possibilities for reimagining everyday objects. With each quilt, ¡Sombra! offers a cool reprieve from the heat while sparking curiosity and conversation about art, sustainability, and community.

Join us for the unveiling of ¡Sombra! and immerse yourself in a thought-provoking experience that celebrates creativity, the environment, and the power of repurposed materials. We look forward to seeing you there!
